01The Client

The Lehigh Valley's home for BMW

Daniels BMW is the Lehigh Valley's home for BMW, a family-run Allentown dealership founded in 1962 and awarded its BMW franchise in 1974, then built over five decades on a simple philosophy: give every visitor a genuine luxury experience. By 2019, the Daniels team wanted marketing that matched the cars on the floor.

General Manager Christian Carlson brought in Ruckus to concept and produce Driven by Excellence, a full campaign built around a bold move for a regional dealer: putting professional football players on camera to make performance personal. The scope ran from campaign concepting and creative through commercial and video production, print and out-of-home design, and social enablement.

02The Brief

Something the Lehigh Valley would actually remember

Dealer advertising is a sea of sameness, inventory shots, price points, and forgettable jingles. Daniels BMW wanted something the region would actually remember. The mission was to drive new BMW customers, not clicks on a clearance event, but real affinity for the dealership behind the roundel.

The insight: performance is mindset plus capability. The same equation that defines a BMW defines the athletes people in this region idolize. And the territory fit, the Lehigh Valley and Greater Philadelphia, proud, passionate football country, an hour from the stadium and all in on its teams.

03The Idea

Borrow the aura of the pros

Ruckus cast NFL players, including Philadelphia Eagles, to fuse the excellence people cheer for on Sundays with the excellence parked at Daniels BMW. People do not bond with dealerships. They bond with personas they already admire, and putting known players behind the wheel transfers that admiration to the brand, turning a car ad into a story about what excellence looks like up close.

Signed in September 2019, eight days after the proposal landed, the engagement scoped a full 15-month campaign world: four film concepts selected by the dealership, Reactions to Excellence, Engineering Drive, The Drivers, and The Drive, a branded series scoped at twelve episodes, with the hero concepts mastered as long-form films and broadcast-ready TV spots with photography.

04The Work

Built to BMW standards

Ruckus wrote, shot, and cut the campaign films with NFL players on camera: defensive back Brian Poole on the standard that gets you to Sunday, wide receiver Willie Snead IV on earning excellence every single day, and a campaign film that puts athletes, machines, and the mindset they share in one cut.

Every frame was produced inside BMW's corporate identity system, from roundel rules to typography to how a 330i xDrive may be lit and cropped. Hero films were mastered in :60, :30, and :20 broadcast lengths, and the campaign extended past the screen into two billboard concepts and two print executions, one featuring Eagles players with signature art traced from the shoot.

05The Outcome

A hometown dealership with big league pull

Driven by Excellence ran where the fans live, across the Greater Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley markets, giving a local, family-run dealer a presence with big-market production value. The first hero films were cut and delivered the same year the campaign was signed, with dealership staff trained to carry the work further on their own channels.
