01The Client

Anti-aging without the sting

Bee Rx is a clean-label natural skincare line from Taro Pharmaceuticals. Its formulas pair New Zealand bee venom with kanuka honey to firm skin, soften wrinkles, and plump lips, a cosmetic range made with 100% naturally-derived ingredients, cruelty-free, carrying a pharmaceutical company's rigor. The line runs five products, from the hero Anti-Aging Facial Serum to a lighter facial gel, a lip-plumping roll-on, an eye-lift roller, and a kanuka-honey acne treatment.

02The Assignment

A pharmaceutical story people could fall for

Bee Rx had rigorous formulas and a remarkable origin, but no consumer identity and no place to buy. The task was to build the brand and its direct-to-consumer engine from zero, launch it into a crowded beauty category, and make bee venom feel desirable rather than clinical. Every word and frame had to clear pharmaceutical MLR regulatory review.

03The Platform

Bee different, built on symbiosis

Ruckus built an identity around symbiosis: a brand that makes products with a different purpose, where buying Bee Rx means supporting the bees and the environment they sustain. The Bee Different platform gave the science a soul and organized every channel around one line. Ruckus produced and edited the brand film and a library of video, audio, and photography that ran across broadcast, streaming, social, and the storefront, all cleared through pharmaceutical review. The direct-to-consumer store was built on Shopify and written end to end, with Klaviyo flows turning first visits into repeat orders.

04The Campaign

Mandy Moore, then a beekeeper

To give the launch a face millennials trusted, Ruckus and Taro signed Mandy Moore as celebrity endorser in spring 2021, a worldwide three-month flight of Instagram and Twitter endorsements, pre-approved press, and a starring role on the storefront, every asset FTC-compliant.

Ruckus then sourced, signed, and filmed beekeeper Erika Thompson, founder of Texas Beeworks, producing the partnership launch film and weaving her through the brand across site, email, and social. Her content outperformed the celebrity work, steering the influencer program that followed toward a roster of micro and nano creators whose engagement translated into genuine trust.

05The Outcome

A launch that compounded

An always-on engine ran across search, social, audio, and programmatic: 31.6 million impressions across a five-market iHeartMedia push, 15.6 million YouTube impressions building brand search, 15.9 million paid social impressions across Meta, and a 3x return on ad spend on Criteo. The launch compounded, with 40% growth in direct-to-consumer sales against the first three months, 8,125 conversions from the iHeartMedia partnership at nearly twice benchmark, a 91% higher returning-customer rate, and 53% more orders placed.
