01The Client

ZICO, built for the field

Founded in 1959 in Yardley, Pennsylvania, Ziamatic Corp designs and manufactures the mounting, storage, access, and retrieval systems that fire and EMS crews rely on every shift. Known in the field as ZICO, the company engineers equipment that fits real compartments, real workflows, and real conditions, then brings it to market through dealers, OEMs, and international reps rather than a direct-to-consumer shelf.

Ladder access systems and gantries on fire apparatus, oxygen tank lift systems on EMS vehicles: ZICO equipment lives where the work happens, holding critical gear secure and releasing it fast. For more than sixty years, the company has built the systems that decide whether critical equipment is merely present, or secure, accessible, and ready when seconds matter.

02The Brief

A trusted maker, not yet a specified brand

Entering a new era of ownership and growth, ZICO carried decades of trust but read to the market as legacy and parts, not innovation and outcomes. Ziamatic and ZICO were used interchangeably, blurring who makes what. Real proof existed, but not as repeatable modules that dealers, OEMs, and reps could deploy and defend, and sales route through partners in markets that each need a different reason to buy. Ruckus was brought in to fix the story before scaling the spend.

03The Work

One story spine, built to travel

Ruckus started with the field, not the catalog. A disciplined audit set the strategy, then every message was built on a single spine that a chief, a specifier, or an outside rep can repeat without rewriting it: lead with the real constraint, show the practical engineered answer, name the result, make it defensible with proof, then route to the partner.

The positioning landed on one line: ZICO gives first responders readiness solutions engineered for safety, speed, and durable performance. Four pillars back the promise of engineered readiness: engineering-led problem solving, mission-ready reliability, built-to-last quality, and human partnership, real support that helps dealers, OEMs, and reps specify, install, and sell with confidence.

A high-contrast visual system followed. Red leads for Fire, blue signals EMS, held in balance by neutral grays, black, and white so the message always reads first. Saira Condensed carries headlines, Inter keeps claims plain-spoken, and one clarified ZICO mark holds Ziamatic Corp in the corporate lockup.

04Go-to-Market

One spine, three markets

The same story translates by audience without fragmenting the brand. For Fire, rig readiness systems that committees can justify. For EMS, safe storage, easier retrieval, and safer handling of oxygen and heavy equipment. For International, the premium, proven choice under harsh conditions, supported with rep-first routing and localized proof for Middle East growth.

The system then deployed across brand guidelines, the logo and lockup system, the FDIC 2026 trade show floor, print advertising, social campaigns, and dealer enablement tools, all under the brand-level promise Engineered for Response, paired with the campaign stamp Readiness, Engineered.

05The Outcome

Built to be trusted, sold, and specified

A complete system now runs the brand, from audit and positioning to mission, pillars, color, type, and a clarified ZICO and Ziamatic lockup structure. The story is live across Fire, EMS, and International, deployed through FDIC, print, social, and dealer-ready tools that partners can repeat. What began as a brand refresh has grown into ongoing campaign management and a full website rebuild, extending the engagement as ZICO scales.
