01The Client

Built for the AI era

VAST Data builds the AI Operating System: a platform that unifies storage, database, and compute for the world's most demanding AI workloads. Trusted by names like xAI, CoreWeave, NVIDIA, Pixar, Zoom, and ServiceNow, and valued at $30 billion in its latest financing, VAST has become foundational infrastructure for the AI revolution. Ruckus was engaged as VAST's studio production partner: directing, shooting, and finishing the broadcast and film content behind the company's biggest launch moments.

02The Problem

Telling deep tech to the humans who buy it

How do you tell the story of a platform built for thinking machines, to the humans who have to buy it? Parallel architectures, unified data layers, exabyte scale: VAST's technology runs deep, and deep technology is notoriously hard to put on camera without losing the room. Every company in tech was suddenly an AI company, so VAST needed launch content with broadcast-grade credibility, not another talking-head webinar lost in the noise, for launch moments with one chance to get it right.

03The Broadcast

Launch television for the AI era

Ruckus produced VAST's launch broadcast end to end at Vu Studios in Nashville: studio procurement, full crew, a three-camera 4K UHD shoot over two studio days, and complete post. The result was a 60 minute broadcast presentation with a cinematic open, dedicated executive segments, and a launch trailer, engineered to premiere like an event, not play like a webinar. The partnership continued into a second flagship production, Build Beyond 2.0, the following year.

04The Films

18 films in year one, and counting

Eighteen finished films shipped in the partnership's first year. A five-part explainer series walks the architecture piece by piece: DASE, DataStore, DataBase, DataEngine, and DataSpace. Six customer story films put the world's most demanding AI users on camera: Pixar, Zoom, NVIDIA, the Allen Institute, CoreWeave, and Lambda. A filmed fireside conversation pairs VAST CEO Renen Hallak with MIT physicist and AI thinker Max Tegmark, complete with its own trailer.

Three signature films carry the brand. Who Is VAST is the definitive brand film, the company's origin, ambition, and worldview in one cinematic answer to the question the whole market was asking. The Cold Open is a cinematic 4K open built to launch the broadcast like an event. And a partner film with GPU cloud company Lambda tells the story of AI infrastructure through the people building it together.

05The Launch

The films behind Cosmos on Demand

To power the Cosmos launch, Ruckus filmed VAST's CEO alongside the leaders of Pixar, Zoom, NVIDIA, the Allen Institute, CoreWeave, Lambda, and more, coordinating studios, crews, and executive calendars across seven shoot locations, from the Bay Area to Las Vegas to Montreal, in under 30 days, for a single launch moment.

The films fueled Cosmos, VAST's launch of the first AI community of its kind, unveiled alongside the VAST Insight Engine with NVIDIA. The launch brought together voices from NVIDIA, CoreWeave, ServiceNow, HSBC, and DeepLearning.AI, and its films still stream on VAST's site today. From the first launch broadcast to Build Beyond 2.0 and the Cosmos launch, the partnership keeps growing, production after production.
