SALONS BY JC
Room to be your own boss
Salons by JC gives licensed beauty and wellness professionals a private, move-in-ready studio to run as their own business. Founded in 1997 and family-owned, it pairs upscale suites with a full-time concierge, so stylists, barbers, and estheticians keep their profits, set their own hours, and build their own brand.
The footprint is the backdrop for the work: 135+ locations across the US and Canada, 4,500+ independent salon owners, 4.5 million client visits welcomed every year, and six consecutive years on Entrepreneur's Franchise 500. The assignment was a brand as ambitious as the professionals it sets free, one that could speak to clients, owners, concierges, and franchisees at once, look as premium as the suites themselves, and scale with the network.

We started by listening
Before a word or a color, Ruckus went to the source: 28 stakeholder interviews across owners, prospects, and staff, 2 focus groups with current and prospective salon owners, and an all-day brand workshop with the founders and home office. The team sat with the people who live the brand every day, from stylists building a book of business to the concierges and franchisees who keep each location running, and mapped what they need, fear, and dream about most.
The line that captured the whole promise: on your own, but not alone. The independence of running your own business, backed by a community, a concierge, and a home office that have your back. One brand promise, Experience Extraordinary, was then voiced four ways: an extraordinary salon experience for clients, we care for your clients as much as you do for owners, a rewarding career in serving others for concierges, and an extraordinary investment in a family-owned model for franchisees.

A mark with a signature
The identity anchors on a script jc and a gold tile, warm, confident, and unmistakably personal. A palette of espresso, signature gold, cream, mocha, blush, and slate blue carries the polish of the suites, while Hallenger, an elegant display serif, handles headlines and Avenir Next does everything that has to work hard.
A website built to scale, location by location
Ruckus designed and built a mobile-first site where the network can keep growing: location microsites that give every studio its own branded home, a searchable directory to find a professional by service, salon, or city, integrated online booking so clients can reserve in a few taps, and a lease-a-suite flow built into every page to turn interest into tours.
Before development began, every page was documented in a 39-page functionality and technical spec, 19 templates and components from homepage to 404, defining what each CTA does, how each filter behaves, and where each form appears. The client signed off page by page in April 2023, and only then did Ruckus build.
Live in every market, one URL at a time
The platform runs today at salonsbyjc.com. Every location gets its own page, every professional a searchable profile, and leasing is never more than one tap away, on any device. What began as brand discovery became a full transformation: research-led positioning, a brand promise voiced for four audiences, a complete visual system, and the website to carry them into every market.
