01The Client

Moments, minted

Momint is a mobile app for privately sharing photos and media with friends and family. Rather than posting to the whole world, people gather the photos, videos, and words from a single occasion into one shared collection, a Momint, and open it only to the people who were there. In 2015 it came to Ruckus as an idea, nothing more. Ruckus was brought on to turn that idea into a brand, a product, and a company ready to launch.

02The Brief

Turn one idea into a company ready to launch

Momint arrived in its conceptual infancy. Through the Ruckus Launch program, a proprietary path from idea to launch, Ruckus set out to give the venture everything it needed to be built and everything it needed to be funded: an understanding of the market, a defined audience, a brand, a product specified end to end, and the materials to demonstrate the business's viability to the investment community.

The program ran in four stages, discover, brand, build, and launch, moving from ideation, market research, and user personas through logo, brand guidelines, and app icon to MVP definition, user stories, wireframes, an interactive prototype, and a functional specification, then to the marketing website and investor documents. Every stage produced a real deliverable, sequenced so nothing was designed before it was understood.

03The Identity

A logo drawn like a memory

The Momint mark reads as an abstract timeline. Each point along it captures a single memory, like a photograph in an album, and the line keeps bouncing forward into the future. The wordmark was hand drawn so the brand would feel personal and intimate, with soft edges and open curves rather than the hard geometry of a typical tech logo, set in graphite and signal teal on paper white.

04The Product

A private feed for the people who were there

The product design defined how a Momint works. Bundle the photos, videos, and words from one occasion into a single shared collection. Add up to five photos, a video, or a quote to any moment, straight from the people who lived it. Browse it as a photo grid, or switch to a scrolling list to relive it in order. The creator and everyone invited can add to a moment, and only the creator can take it down.

Every screen was mapped from user stories into an interactive prototype and a thirty page functional specification, complete with technology architecture, so a development team could build the app without guesswork. Grid view, list view, and the add-to-a-moment flow were each wireframed, prototyped, and specified in full.

05The Results

Brand, product, and a way to raise it

Ruckus designed a marketing site to introduce Momint to the public and prepared the materials to demonstrate the business's viability to the investment community, built on the financial goals and market insight gathered during discovery. Momint arrived as an idea and left as a company ready to launch: a hand-drawn identity built to grow with the company, a finished product design, and a public marketing site with investor materials to carry the venture to market and to the funders behind it.
